新村社区是后溪镇下辖的城乡结合区社区。社区名称来自上世纪五十年代末的一次迁建：为修建坂头水库，原石兜乡的村落迁到此地，建成新的居民点。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

清代这里属同安县仁德里十三都，民国初年归肖地保管辖。1958年，石兜乡宫仔兜、许庄、石兜等17个自然村约350户、1600人迁往前进村，1959年再搬入新村，与官地自然村合设新村大队，隶属后溪公社。[2]

1971年，新村与溪西两个大队合为前进大队；1979年又从前进大队中分出前进、新村、溪西三个大队。1984年设为后溪乡的新村村委会，1987年划入集美区，2006年以社区居委会的形式改制。[2]

经济[edit]

社区种植琯溪蜜柚。2011年8月，农业部把新村社区列为「第一批全国一村一品示范村镇」，项目为琯溪蜜柚。[1] 2023年8月，社区获认定为2022年厦门市「一村一品」专业村，项目为蜜柚；同年12月又获认定为2023年度福建省「一村一品」专业村，项目仍是蜜柚。[1]
