西滨社区位于集美区杏滨街道西部，紧靠马銮湾西岸，驻地在西滨路42号，面积3.17平方千米，是杏滨街道8个社区之一。[4]辖区内有西滨、山后张、蔡林三个自然村。[1]

地名由来[edit]

社区以西滨村得名，村落正位于马銮湾西岸。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代，此地属安仁里十六都的西边与蔡林两保，民国后期称西滨保。1943年隶属鹤场乡西滨保，上归灌口镇管辖。[1]

1952年与马銮乡合并，改称西滨乡；1957年3月，它成为灌口镇下的一个大队。此后行政归属几经变动，先后归前场公社、杏林公社与杏林区管辖，时间分别在1961年、1964年与1978年。[1]

1984年，杏林公社改为杏林乡，西滨是乡内的村委会（1991年杏林乡改镇）。2003年随杏林镇划归集美区，2004年撤镇设街，改属杏滨街道；2006年村改居，成为西滨社区。[1]

人口民族[edit]

辖区共1114户居民，人口合计27086人：其中3582人为常驻人口，另有23504人为暂住人口（据博雅地名网，年份未注）。[1]居民多姓陈，据传先祖出自厦门殿前社的西房一脉，17世纪初前后来到马銮湾畔定居、开垦。[2]

地理环境[edit]

旧时民居多用条石与红砖砌成，属闽南风格，房屋随山坡起伏而布局。[2]社区中还保留几座建于解放前的“番仔楼”，建筑带西式风格，据称是海外富商回乡营建的。[2]杏林于1989年设立台商投资区，此后大部分土地被征收，村民的收入多靠出租房屋与服务业。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

据区里公布的文物普查名录，登记在西滨的文物有西滨清惠宫（清代）、西滨陈氏宗祠（清代）、西滨大明庵（明代、清代、1990年）、西滨安居楼（1933年）、西滨陈荣原宅（1934年）等。[3]
