日东社区是集美区杏滨街道下辖的社区，属主城区，在杏滨街道的8个社区之中。[2]社区名字取自已废弃的日东桥，2004年11月起归杏滨街道管辖。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

社区所在之地，早先是曾营与马銮两村的田地。1979年3月成立日东居委会，归属杏林区杏林镇，此后于1984年转由杏林街道管理。[1]

1988年，盐场居委会改称龙泉居委会；1991年5月，西化居委会并入龙泉。2000年6月前后，永丰、新源等居委会相继设立。[1]

2003年8月，杏林街道转隶集美区，新源、龙泉、永丰与日东四个居委会合并组成日东社区；2004年11月，社区划入杏滨街道。[1]

文化[edit]

2017年5月，社区被认定为第四批国家级充分就业社区。[1]
