西亭社区位于福建省厦门市集美区杏林街道的杏林湾畔，园博苑在其近旁，东邻后溪镇，西接杏北小区，面积约5平方千米。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

西亭原以种植和养殖为主，后来有了部分私营企业，经商、运输和外出务工的人也多了起来。2004年，它由杏滨街道转入杏林街道，当时还是一个村。[3]

2005年起政府征地开发，区行政中心、嘉庚图书馆、市民中心等公共建筑，以及地标“白鹭双塔”，都选址于社区内。沈海高速、集美大道、杏林大道三条主要公路经过这里。[2]

地理环境[edit]

社区辖6个自然村，居民小组有19个。[1][2]

名胜古迹[edit]

社区内有朝旭宫、宝凫庙等寺庙，还保留着多棵百年古榕，并建有朝旭宫榕树公园。[2]

集美陈姓多属颍川陈氏，西亭陈氏是其中的一个支系，先祖大多在宋元明清时期陆续迁入此地。[4]
