五通社区是福建省厦门市湖里区金山街道下辖的社区，位于厦门岛东北角，东距小金门8海里，由村改为社区，辖10个自然村。[2]

社区总面积4.2平方千米。2013年9月4日的统计中，常住户为2500户，人口6774人；另有外来流动人员21019人。[2]

地名由来[edit]

五通之名，一说为五路皆通，另一说是因庙祀五通神而得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

历史上这里是四面环海的小岛，称五通屿。后经修堤、填海，五通屿与高林村相连；泥金、东宅、西头先连成一片，再与浦口、店里、凤头、下边、仑后、浦东、坂美等自然村连成一体，形成今日的社区。[2]

清末战乱与瘟疫频发，村民多外出谋生，五通因此成为侨乡。[2]

民国初，村中各社分属西林、昭塘、北山三保；抗战胜利后的1945年归金林保。建国后先设五通乡，内分东方、凤浦、泥东三个村。1958年改为前线公社的五通大队，1984年则为禾山乡的五通村委会。[3]

2003年11月，五通成立社区居委会，实行村改居；2004年9月，随禾山镇撤销改制为五通社区；2010年12月17日，社区析出五缘东一里、五缘东二里，设立金海社区。[2][3]

文化[edit]

社区先后获得「文明单位」「社区建设示范社区」「2011年科普示范社区」「市级文明社区」等荣誉。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

五通渡头遗址位于凤头社北面约300米的海岬上，隔海与同安刘五店相对。清乾隆年间此地设五通铺，渡头伸入海中的巨石坡上凿有石阶遗迹。该遗址于1982年公布为厦门市级文物保护单位。[4]

五通灯塔公园位于环岛东路五通段临海地带，占地13.2公顷。[5]
