高林社区是福建省厦门市湖里区金山街道下辖的社区，位于厦门岛东部，东面抵翔安隧道口，南面以仙岳路为界，北面毗连五缘湾湿地公园。[1][2]

社区面积约2.5平方千米，辖区人口约1.8万人；其中常住人口3406人，外来人口则约1.5万人。[2]

地名由来[edit]

相传宋代这里已有十来户高姓人家，聚成小村。南宋景定五年（1264年），端州刺史林华的嫡孙林笃志从五通村店里社入赘高林社的高家，生下五子，各自成为房头，村子于是发展为大社，并以此得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民国初此地归西宫保管辖；抗战胜利后的1945年改归高林保。建国初，高林与昭塘两村共设一个高林乡。1958年并入前线公社，为高林大队；1984年后成为禾山乡下的高林村委会。[1]

2004年9月，高林改属金山街道，设高林社区。2008年，社区南部的田中央、昭塘、田头等9个社析出，另置金林社区。[1][2]

据百度百科，居民委员会2003年12月挂牌成立，标志村改居完成；据本社区概况，社区于2008年7月由原高林社区分拆后成立。[2][3]

社区先后获得「厦门市文明社区」「湖里区创文明城市先进单位」等称号。[2]

地理环境[edit]

社区下辖8个居民小组和7个自然社。金山路穿过社区，南侧则是万达广场。[2]
