枋湖社区位于厦门岛东北一带，是禾山街道的村改居社区，原村庄于2003年12月转为城市社区。北面靠近埭辽水库，南面有薛岭山，东面朝向五缘湾。[1][2]

社区由原枋湖村改制而来，改制时间为2003年12月。[1][2]

博雅地名网的概况页称，辖区内共七个自然村：安兜、林后、卢厝、蔡坑、穆厝、梧桐与枋湖本村。全社区分为18个居民小组，该页数据较旧。[3]

百度百科则认为辖区格局是五个自然村加五处居住小区，与博雅地名网的数字不同。[1]
