地名由来[edit]
宋、元、明时东渡村设有官渡，是厦门的古渡头之一，因与西海岸的嵩屿隔海相对而得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
民国初归竹坑保，抗战胜利后归湖里保；建国初期，分别划入高殿乡与湖里乡。1958年起，东渡大队归前线公社管辖。1959年初，东渡大队被划入厦门国营奶牛场。[3]
此后，1981年10月东渡大队改归开元区湖里街道；同年12月，它分成东渡、濠头、官任三个居委会。2003年，几个居委会整合为东渡社区。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2021年11月，社区被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
