地名由来[edit]
一说西南面的牛头山形似牛头，村落位于山脊「牛背」上，村口在今东渡路中段，村口三棵大榕树被视为村庄的吉祥树。「濠头」一名的本义仍不清楚。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
村落历史可上溯至明代；清道光年间编成的《厦门志》人物部分，记有濠头的杨姓科举人物。村民以杨姓、陈姓为多。[3]
民国初归竹坑保，抗战胜利后归湖里保。1958年归前线公社东渡大队管辖。1959年，濠头与东渡、官任等自然村划入市食品公司牛奶生产基地，即国营厦门奶牛场。1970年又归东渡大队。[3]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，社区被命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」。[1]
