湖里社区位于湖里街道中西部，社区南面临竹坑路，北面接兴隆路，东边以华昌路为界，西界为疏港路。它是湖里区保留原有经济实体的城中村式村改居社区之一，社区名即取自辖内的湖里村。[1][2]

地名由来[edit]

关于「湖里」一名，有两种说法。一说是社区西侧海滨的洼地沿岸水竹丛生，原称竹坑湖，湖里村位于竹坑湖内侧，因而得名。[1]

概况[edit]

社区常住户836户，私房出租户398户，分为七个居民小组。全社区总人口18557人，其中流动人口16000人，常住人口仅2557人。[1][2]

社区党组织设总支部，下设四个党支部，其中一个为非公党支部。[2]
