嵩屿街道是福建省厦门市海沧区下辖的街道，也是海沧区人民政府的驻地。它位于海沧区东南部，处在九龙江口北岸，东以厦门西港与厦门岛相望，西北与新阳街道接壤。[1][2]

街道是从原海沧街道析出的：2014年末，厦门市政府批准把海沧街道分设为海沧和嵩屿两个街道，嵩屿街道由此设立。[2] 辖区内设12个社区和2个行政村，办事处驻嵩屿路116号。[1][3]

历史沿革[edit]

明代，这一带属海澄县海沧镇。[1] 1989年国务院批准设立海沧台商投资区，原属石塘、钟山等村的土地陆续被征用，其中一部分辟为生活区。1998年，该生活区设立海发社区，2006年又从中析出海达社区。[4][5]

2006年1月，海沧镇撤镇改街，分设海沧街道与新阳街道，嵩屿一带此后属海沧街道管辖，直至2014年底。[4] 嵩屿街道的设立日期各书记载不一：维基百科记为上述2014年末的批复，百度百科则记作2015年1月7日，由海沧街道析出9个社区和2个村设立嵩屿街道。[1][2]

2018年7月，海虹社区一带分设为海盛、海景等社区，海盛社区于7月5日挂牌。[4][6][7]

地理环境[edit]

街道辖区面积约35平方千米，位于海沧区东南部，九龙江出海口北岸，与厦门岛隔厦门西港相望。[1][3]

人口[edit]

据百度百科，截至2020年末，街道常住人口为225595人。[1] 各社区页面的人口数字分别按户籍、常住或流动人口列出，统计口径不一，此处不作合计。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

海沧湾公园是街道内较大的公园。公园南端在嵩屿码头，北端接海沧大桥西引桥，全长5.8公里，占地约20.72万平方米。一期工程于2009年6月开工，2010年春节前建成开放。据百度百科，它是厦门市最长的带状公园，园内分为文化体验、海景观光和运动休闲三个区域。[8]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，嵩屿之名与南宋末年的一段经历有关：宋末幼帝赵昺一行避难途经此地，适逢幼帝生辰，随行群臣齐声为其祝寿，地名由此而来。[3]
