新阳街道是福建省厦门市海沧区下辖的街道，位于海沧区北部，濒临马銮湾南岸，东邻海沧街道，南接嵩屿街道，西南与东孚街道相连。截至2021年10月，街道下辖7个社区和1个行政村。街道名取自辖区内霞阳、新垵两个村名中的各一字。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

辖区宋代属龙溪县三都，清代属新垵保。新中国成立后先设霞阳乡、新垵乡，1956年霞阳乡并入新垵乡，1958年改设海沧公社下的霞阳、新垵两个大队。1984年仍为杏林乡下的霞阳、新垵两个村委会，2002年划归海沧镇。2006年海沧镇撤镇，分设海沧、新阳两个街道，新阳街道成立时管辖祥露、霞阳两个社区居委会和新垵村委会。[1][3]

名胜古迹[edit]

石室禅院位于霞阳村玢瑁山山麓，是区级文物保护单位。寺院据记载开山于唐垂拱二年（686年），另一说建寺于后唐同光三年（925年）。寺中年代最早的殿宇是护法殿，建于清道光年间，光绪年间又经修整。寺后山留有明代戚继光抗倭时期的游城古寨、尖山古寨遗迹。2004年起重修后，寺院占地约六万平方米，现兼有弘法、修学、慈善和旅游等功能。[4]
