后井村位于海沧街道南部，濒临九龙江北岸，面积6.8平方千米，下辖七个自然村。村中以周姓居多，约占七成。村名的来历与村前村后的井水有关。[1][2]

名称与历史[edit]

据《厦门市地名志》，村前所挖的井水不能饮用，改在村后挖井才有可饮之水，村因此得名。古时此地又称金沙。[1][2]

清代此地属集兴下半保，民国时期为金钟乡锦里保的一部分。1958年，村中分设内坑、衙里两个大队，同年8月划归厦门，属郊区海沧公社。文革期间两队合并为后井大队，1984年改设海沧乡后井村。[2][3]

2005年7月海沧镇撤销，此地改属海沧街道。[2]

人口与姓氏[edit]

村中现有常住人口5416人，计1460户，其中有约1400人因拆迁迁出，多数住进京口岩小区。村民以周姓为主，另有魏、陈、梁、张、林、黄等姓。[2]

集体经济[edit]

村民因征地失去土地和船只，就业困难，村集体缺少产业。2014年10月，区政府研究后，把建港路以北、海景路以西一块约9300平方米的石甲头储备用地划给村里，用于发展集体经济项目「金沙工业园」。[2]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，福建省爱卫办授予后井村「2021年福建省卫生村」的称号。[1]
