渐美村位于海沧区中心地带，靠近区政府、马青路与海沧体育中心，占地约1.27平方千米，紧邻城区干线要道。全村共1030户，常驻人口2884人。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

渐美村原属海澄县三都。民国末年，此地编为海澄县第四区金钟乡的一个保，新中国成立后又改设为乡。[3]

1958年8月此地并入厦门，列入郊区海沧公社，设有渐美大队；1961年一度析设渐美公社，1964年又并回海沧公社。1984年改为海沧乡渐美村委会，1986年改镇。[3][1]

2003年置海沧区，2006年1月海沧镇撤销，此地改属海沧街道。2008年11月，渐美村委会析出一部分，设立海兴社区。[3][4]

人口与经济[edit]

村内外来人口为13377人。村里以出租房为特色，出租房是村民的重要经济来源，几乎每户都有出租房。[2]

姓氏与文化[edit]

村内共有许、谢、蔡、林、王、陈等五十个姓氏。据族人介绍，许氏开基于唐朝末年，谢氏家庙的记载中有明代进士。[2]

1985年村里恢复龙舟比赛，此后持续举办，至今已连续办了二十九届。龙舟赛带动了腰鼓、拔河、歌唱等群众文化活动。[2]
