海沧社区是海沧街道下辖的社区，地处九龙江出海口北岸，夹在海沧港区铁路与保税港区之间。社区面积约166.64公顷，下设八个自然社，另有十二个居民小组。社区前身为海沧村，因驻地而得名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地归崇隆保管辖。1940年前后这里设为海沧乡下的海沧村，1958年8月改属厦门市，编入郊区海沧公社，称海沧大队。[1][3]

1984年改设海沧乡，两年后改称镇，村委会也随之更名。2003年海沧区设立，2005年7月海沧镇撤销，分出海沧街道。[1][2]

2014年4月，原海沧村委会与海沧社区居委会合并重组，形成街道下的海沧社区居民委员会。[2]

人口与生活[edit]

据博雅地名网，社区内常驻1296户，登记总人口3539人，另有流动人口1540人，党员186人。[2]

文化遗产[edit]

社区范围内尚存古建筑十余座，其中有沧江古镇、柯井张氏古宅，三条老街上的骑楼建筑，以及民国时期的中共学堂魁星楼。[2]

莲塘别墅属省级文物保护单位，坐落在社区范围内，由越南华侨陈炳猷家族所建。[2][4]

2020年，社区获评「第二批福建省侨乡文化名镇名村」。[1]
