嘉莲街道是福建省厦门市思明区下辖的街道，位于思明区北部，办事处设在和光里66号。街道东南与莲前街道相邻，南面和西南与梧村街道接壤，北面和西面连接筼筜街道，东北隔吕岭路与湖里区江头街道相望。全街道面积4.48平方千米，2020年末户籍人口31885人。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
1987年7月，梧村街道的4个居委会改属莲前街道，禾山乡也有5个村随之划入。同年11月，莲前街道的一个居委会分出观远里、玉亭里和和光里三处居委会。[1]
2000年6月，筼筜街道的6个居委会与莲前街道的15个居委会组成了新的嘉莲街道。辖区社区数目经过两次调整：2001年8月合并为13个，到2003年5月又减至10个。[2]
截至2021年10月，街道下辖11个社区。[1]
地理环境[edit]
嘉禾路、吕岭路、金尚路和莲前大道四条城市主干道在外围围合着街道。辖区内有3000多家企业，以及40多幢高层商住楼。[2]
文化[edit]
街道荣誉累计50多项，涵盖国家级到区级各层。其中有「全国和谐社区建设示范街道」「全国城市体育先进社区」「福建省科普示范街道」「厦门市社区建设示范街道」等。2006年，街道首创的「爱心超市」获第三届「中国地方创新奖」。[3]
