岭兜社区的名称来自原名“榄都”的村落。1915年，陈新政回到故乡，在榄都村办起务本学校，学校把“榄都”写成了“岭兜”，因读音相近，村名就这样改成了岭兜[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
岭兜本原是一个自然村，新中国成立后，它与周边多个村社合并为何厝乡；1958年10月，岭兜等5个自然村组成何厝大队[1][2]。
2000年5月，岭兜自然村单独成立岭兜村委会；2004年7月，岭兜村委会改制为社区居民委员会[1][2]。
2009年5月因辖区调整，明发园、明发城两个居民小区纳入本社区[1]。
著名人物[edit]
陈新政（1881年至1924年），原名文图，嘉禾里二十二都岭兜村人，后加入中国同盟会，改名新政[1]。
