何厝社区的名字来自何氏族人在厦门的发源地与聚居地[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
这里清末属何岭保；解放初期成为何厝乡所在地。到1958年底，改归何厝大队，1984年又改为何厝村委会；1987年，它归于开元区莲前街道辖下[1][2]。
2000年，何厝村委会分出岭兜自然村单设岭兜村委会，又析出黄头、下堡、塔埔3个自然村组成塔埔行政村；到2003年6月，它改制为社区，名为何厝社区[1]。
社区一带有「八·二三」炮战纪念址，为市级文物保护单位，在何厝村东南海边，详见莲前街道条目[3]。
