龙山桥社区因附近一座名叫龙山桥的小桥而得名[1]。这里原是西林村的农地，1989年西林村分出龙山桥居委会，此后经历多次分合，2001年改制为社区[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

清末这块地属二十一都福相保，1945年8月改属禾山区蔡塘保，1950年归莲坂乡，1956年归江头乡[1]。

1958年10月这里归莲坂大队，1962年随莲坂大队析设，划归西林大队；1985年开始建住宅群，1989年12月西林村分出龙山桥居委会[1]。

1997年10月，这个居委会一分为三，新出的居委会有莲东、莲西与东浦；2001年4月它转为社区，东浦又在2003年6月并回龙山桥社区[1]。

2024年1月，龙山桥社区获命名为「2023年福建省卫生社区」[1]。
