中华街道位于厦门岛西南部，隶属思明区，西侧隔鹭江与鼓浪屿相望。街道由原思明、文安、中华三个街道于2004年合并而成，名称取自旧时的中华路，即今日的中山路。[2][4]

辖区内的中山路建于民国年间，是厦门较早修建的城市道路，也属中山路历史文化街区的主体部分。街道内另有赵纾攻剿红夷刻石、新街礼拜堂、江夏堂、陈化成故居等文物。[1][14][2]

历史沿革[edit]

清代此地属同安县嘉禾里，归二十一都管辖。民国元年（1912年）起划归思明县。[1]

街名与中华路有关，此路即今日的中山路。1948年10月，当地设中华保，保名便取自辖内的这条路。[2][3]

1955年起此地设为中华街道办事处，1958年改称人民公社，1979年又恢复街道之名。[1][3]

2004年，思明、文安、中华三个街道合并为中华街道。合并之前，思明、中华、文安三者的面积分别为0.26平方千米、0.67平方千米和0.47平方千米，人口则都在一万余人上下。[2][4]

地理环境[edit]

街道位于厦门岛西南部。东面以新华路与开元街道相邻，北面以大同路与鹭江、开元两街道相接，南面靠近鸿山公园，西侧隔鹭江望向鼓浪屿。[2][4]

博雅地名网载2004年户籍人口32072人；百度百科载截至2020年末户籍人口12633人。两者年份不同，数字相差较大，此处并录，供读者比对。[1][4]

文化[edit]

2021年1月，街道被认定为「第三批福建省侨乡文化名镇名村」；同年2月，又上榜「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

赵纾攻剿红夷刻石刻于虎溪岩后山的岩壁上，在镇海社区白鹿洞一带。刻文为「天启癸亥冬晋阳赵纾督征到此」，系天启三年（1623年）冬漳州府海防同知赵纾所题，刻石高1.7米，宽0.6米。1982年被列为厦门的第二批市级文物，1985年经福建省公布为省级文物保护单位。[2][5][6]

新街礼拜堂位于台光街29号，在文安社区。据百度百科，它被视为中国大陆最早专供华人礼拜的基督教堂。教堂1848年建成，1849年启用；1928年因失修拆去，1933年起重建，1935年完工，样式为罗马式。2005年升为省级文物保护单位。[2][7][8]

江夏堂位于文安社区钱炉灰埕2号的文安小学之内。1910年（清宣统三年）起，黄培松出资购地修建黄氏大宗祠，1918年全部落成。该建筑原为清代闽海关衙门旧址，此后一部分用地成了文安小学。百度百科称现存祭祖堂与宗亲会馆两座建筑，维基百科则称今仅存祖堂一座。据百度百科，它在2004年被认定为厦门市文物保护单位，2009年改定为省级。[9][10]

厦门各界抗敌后援会会址在定安路71号，1929年建成，最初是诊所兼住宅。抗战初期的1937年盛夏，福建省各界抗敌后援会的厦门分会在楼中设立。1982年3月，它被厦门市人民政府定为文物保护单位。[11][12]

陈化成故居位于草埔巷9号，建于清代，是穿斗式砖木结构的平屋，建筑面积130平方米，属厦门市的市级文物。[2][13]

中山路西端接鹭江道，东北端接新华路，全长约1.2千米。它于1925年（民国十四年）动工，1929年（民国十八年）建成；1979年10月，它与中华路合为一条路；2006年1月起辟为步行街。[14]
