沙坡尾社区是厦港街道下辖的社区，毗邻南普陀寺和厦门大学。[3]
地名由来[edit]
厦门港原是一处弧形海湾，形如月牙，有「玉沙坡」的美称。社区位于玉沙坡的末端，故名沙坡尾。[1][2]
历史沿革[edit]
此地清末属厦港保，抗战胜利后设水上保。1950年前后，这里设厦港、水上两个街政委员会，1952年水上并入厦港街政。1955年厦港街道办事处设立，此地设居委会。[1]
1990年11月，由周边的居委会各划出一部分，组成沙坡尾居委会。2002年与2003年，两个相邻居委会先后并入，形成现在的沙坡尾社区。[1]
文化[edit]
2025年12月，社区上榜「2025年福建省儿童友好社区」名单。2021年2月，社区列入「福建省2018-2020年度省级文明村镇社区」名单。[1]
