赤厝村是福建省福州市福清市江阴镇下辖的行政村。村名经过两次更改：明代初年，东厝、田头一带的村民在此垦滩拓田，建土厝安放水车，称此地为「车厝」；每年秋季风沙翻滚，全村一片赤色，遂改称赤厝。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
唐代此地隶孝义乡，北宋时为孝义乡江阴里下都。元代沿袭此制，明嘉靖十一年（1532年）改隶东隅江阴里。[2]
清末归江阴乡。民国时期先隶江阴区，后改属第八区，1935年设赤厝保，隶中玉屿联保。[2]
新中国成立后，1949年8月江阴岛解散，同年9月划归江阴乡。1950年8月设赤厝乡，之后归江阴区管辖，1956年4月改隶渔溪区。1958年9月设赤厝大队，1961年7月划入江阴人民公社，1984年改为村委会，1990年江阴撤乡建镇。[2]
