江阴镇隶属福建省福州市福清市，坐落于市境西南部的江阴半岛，北侧挨着兴化湾，面积69.75平方千米。[1][2][5]

镇名源自方位：唐代人称江北为阳、江南为阴，此地在迳港之南，遂名江阴。[2] 镇内的下石村有明代嘉靖年间修建的下石烽火台。[6]

历史沿革[edit]

自699年福清设万安县起，这一带便属常德临江里。[3] 1910年有了江阴乡的建制，乡所起初设在塘连村，后迁往浔头村，当时全乡共有108个自然村。[3][5]

1927年乡改为区，称江阴区。1950年9月，江阴乡换称第八区，区址在塘边村；1956年4月江阴区被撤销，并入渔溪区。[3]

1958年起隶属渔溪人民公社，1961年7月从中分出，另立江阴人民公社。1984年9月26日公社改为乡，1991年11月8日撤乡设镇。[3]

地理环境[edit]

江阴镇位于福清市西南部，在江阴半岛上，距市中心约30公里。[2][5]

百度百科还提到，该镇海岸线约65千米，并称它的海岛面积在福建省九个海岛乡镇里居首。[5] 维基百科称全镇辖23个行政村，共93个自然村。[4]

镇内农业以红薯、水稻和花生为主。[2]

工业方面有日化、冷冻、电子和制盐等企业。[2]

名胜古迹[edit]

下石烽火台位于下石村的鼎脐山顶，山高约70米。据福清市文体局2018年1月发布的文章，它是明代嘉靖年间当地军民为防御倭寇而用块石垒筑的烽火台。[6]

遗址占地约200平方米，底座呈方形，层层垒至六层，六层以上已倒塌，是一座实心的覆斗式墩台。[6]
