东楼村是福清市新厝镇下辖的行政村，位于镇北侧，东邻新厝开发区，西接棉亭村，北与渔溪镇相连。村内主干道连接324国道。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村民先祖原以沿海捞鱼为生，迁来后把晒网用的草楼改建为住屋，清代又改成楼房。村中流传“西未楼，东存楼”的说法，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地先后隶属渔溪区与光贤乡，宋代归万安乡安香里，明代为南下隅安香里所辖。新中国成立后设第九区东刘乡。1958年，因干部姓刘，村名中的“楼”字改作“刘”，称东刘，此后恢复原名东楼。1975年设东刘村委，如今为村委会。[2]
