锦城村在沙埔镇境内。村中山水清丽，四周环山，村落居中，远望如一座城楼，因此得名锦城。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属崇德乡平南里六十一都，有锦城之境，元代沿袭。明代属北二隅，清末归高山镇崇德乡平南里。民国时属六一乡锦城保，新中国成立后先后归东陈乡和江厦乡。[1]

1959年设锦城大队；1981年3月归沙埔人民公社锦城大队，1984年9月设沙埔乡锦城村委会，1992年乡改镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，锦城村获得「2021年福建省卫生村」称号。[1]
