江夏村在沙埔镇境内。村名有两段来历：明洪武年间，王惟寅公从南日岛顺流至此开基，在一棵柑树下筑屋，后人传称甘厝下，作为村名；古时称建在海滨的大房子为「江厦」，「江夏」由此而来。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
明清时此地称甘厝下，属崇德乡平南里。民国后，村子先隶第七区（高山区），继而并入高山镇六一乡，乡址在沙埔，村名一度写作「江夏」。[1][2]
新中国成立后，村名曾改作江厦，另有「八一社」之称。1961年，全县划分为18个公社，村名又恢复甘厝下；60年代初，村中民兵工作成绩突出，村名曾改为八一大队。[2]
沙埔人民公社设于1981年4月1日，由高山公社划出21个大队组成，八一大队便划归沙埔公社。1984年改为八一村，1992年7月22日随沙埔乡改镇。1993年3月，经批复，八一村复名「江夏村」。[2]
