赤礁村在沙埔镇境内，村名出自村子南面海中一块赤色的石礁。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村地在宋代属崇德乡平南里，明代属北一隅，清末归高山镇崇德乡。民国时期设有赤礁保，其后改属龙潭乡一带。[1]

1959年，龙潭大队中析出五个自然村，组成赤礁大队；1984年设赤礁村委会，1992年随乡改镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年10月，村庄被福建省农业农村厅列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」；同年12月，又被定为「2022年度福州市中级版绿盈乡村」。[1]
