前王村是福建省福州市福清市高山镇下辖的行政村，属镇乡结合区，村民以王姓为主。村名「前王」在公社化后才定下，此前曾称「峒山」「前园村」。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村子历史上别称「峒山」。村北约一里处有白花山、红土山、龙尾石山三座低矮山岗，山岗后有一个后园村，故本村曾取名「前园村」，与之前后相应。[1]

村中聚居的都是王氏族亲。公社化后，村干部填表时把「园」改为「王」，村名就沿用「前王」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

据村中所述，元末明初，王审知的十一世孙王增率兵驻守融邑平南里五十九都的峒山境，于此定居，子孙繁衍。[1]

宋代属平南里五十九都，境内有峒山境。1943年为保驻地，行政隶属高山镇。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2017年11月，中央文明委授予前王村「第五届全国文明村镇」称号。2019年12月，前王村被认定为「全国乡村治理示范村」。[1]
