村名与叶氏[edit]
据博雅地名网，叶氏先祖自明初由金陵迁来此地，并以「后叶」为村名，寓意子孙枝繁叶茂。先祖的迁居经历，该页另有叙述，此前曾辗转陕西、河南、浙江、福建等地。[1][2]
叶向高（1559年至1627年），字进卿，号台山，福建福清人，明朝内阁首辅。博雅地名网称后叶村为其故里。[1][4]

村落面积约8.5平方公里。村中有十七个村民小组，博雅地名网所载为758户、2546人，未注年份。村中水泥路约4000米，并有老人活动场所和广场。[1][2]
名胜古迹[edit]
港头叶氏宗祠位于后叶村，建于明代，1988年被公布为「县级文物保护单位」。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
此地先隶孝义乡化南里，设云山、两境；明朝划入北二隅化南里。1910年归高山镇。1959年成立大队，隶属龙田公社。1961年转入港头公社，1984年大队改为村民委员会，仍归港头乡，1985年后叶村委会正式成立，下设十七个组。1992年乡改镇。[1]
