后园村在龙高半岛中部的西南部，距福清市中心约25公里。村名取自村后一大片田园。村内辖后园、旺宅两个自然村。[1]

村后有一大片田园，村子因此得名后园。[1]

概况[edit]

村下设十八个村民小组。博雅地名网所载为582户、2150人，未注年份。耕地1280亩，村内大棚蔬菜种植面积约468亩，主要产品为尖椒。村中设有村卫生所、后园小学和老人活动中心。[1]

荣誉[edit]

福建省农业农村厅于2022年10月将后园村认定为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。2020年12月，村子因尖椒产业入选「2020年度福建省“一村一品”示范村」名单。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地原为崇德乡化北里上都的兴仁境，明代改隶东隅化北里上都。1910年归龙田镇所辖。1950年进入第七区，1952年改为第十三区，1958年建立大队并隶龙田公社，1961年转入港头公社。1984年成为村民委员会，属港头乡，1992年乡改镇后随之改为镇辖村。[1]
