南郑村在港头镇西南，东接南门村，北与汕头村相邻，西面与江镜华侨农场相接。华北河自村中南北贯穿，流入出海口。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，元末明初郑姓一支由平潭迁来，定居于此，村名与郑氏的聚居有关。[1]

概况[edit]

村中有628户，博雅地名网所载人口约2400余人，未注年份。以养殖业为主，有闽虾养殖场和鳗鱼养殖场，另有一定面积的蔬菜种植。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地早先隶属崇德乡化北里上都，境名玉石、永安；明代转入东隅化北里上都。1910年划归龙田镇。1943年编为一甲，设南郑保。1950年进入第七区，1958年改归龙田公社，1959年建立大队，1961年划给港头公社。1984年大队改称村民委员会，隶港头乡，1992年乡改镇。[1]
