马湖村位于港头镇内，村名的来历与明代抗倭时在此圈地养马有关。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，明代抗倭将领戚继光率军至此地时，见遍地杂草丛生，便圈地养马，村因此得名马湖。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2022年12月，马湖村被确定为「2022年度福州市中级版“绿盈乡村”」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此地早年属崇德乡化北里上都（境名龙湖），明代改入东隅化北里上都。1910年划入龙田镇，1943年设三甲与马湖保。1950年属第七区，1958年建立大队，1961年归港头公社管辖。1984年大队改为村委会，隶属港头乡，1985年村委会正式成立，下设二十一个组，1992年乡改镇时村随之改为镇辖。[1]
