高东村位于港头镇东侧，原为化北里的桂岭村，因村民多姓高而改称高岭村，后因位置在港头东侧而改为现名。[1]

地名由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，此地原称化北里桂岭村。解放后因村民以高姓为多，改称高岭村；1960年，村名与另一地的同名村重复，且村落位于港头镇东侧，遂改为高东村。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属崇德乡化北里上都，明代为东隅化北里上都的一段。1910年并入龙田镇。1943年村中划为四甲，归化北乡管理，并设高岭保。1950年由第七区高岭乡管辖，1955年改由三山区管辖。1958年隶龙田公社，三年后改隶港头公社。1984年成为村民委员会，仍归港头乡，1992年随乡改镇。[1]
