吴塘村位于江镜镇西部中心地区，辖吴塘、目山、薛墩、后周4个自然村。[1]村名为先祖迁来后怀念故土而取。[2]全村有30个村民小组、1246户，辖区面积3.6平方公里，耕地2100亩。[1]

沿革[edit]

宋代此地属孝义乡临江里，内设福塘、寿塘、安福、积庆等境；明代归南下隅临江里。1943年设吴塘保，划归江镜乡；1950年改隶第3区吴塘乡；1958年设吴塘大队，隶龙田公社；1961年转属江镜公社。1984年改设村委会，属江镜乡；1990年随乡改镇。[1]
