玉桂村位于江镜镇，村名的来历见于当地传说：三兄弟自新厝明城迁出时相约，凡见到桂树之处即可立村，后在一棵桂树旁落户，遂取名玉桂。[1]村庄在「文革」期间曾改名前卫，之后复用原名。[1]

沿革[edit]

早先此地属崇德乡井得里，为佛境。1943年设玉桂保，编有18甲，归江德乡；1950年划归第3区，称玉桂。1959年设玉桂大队，隶龙田公社，文革期间一度叫作前卫，1979年复名玉桂大队。1984年改设村委会，至今属江镜乡。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年11月，玉桂村被福建省爱卫办命名为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]农业农村主管部门于2022年10月把玉桂村列为「第二批福建省乡村治理示范村镇」。[1]2023年11月，玉桂村被认定为「第三批全国乡村治理示范村」。[1]2024年2月，玉桂村被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。[1]
