谢塘村位于江镜镇镇区，是革命老区村，村内以谢姓居多。[1]全村有3953人、959户，分为28个村民小组，村党员70人。[2]

地名与沿革[edit]

据传，村人挖塘时得到一块玉石，此塘因之称玉塘；村民多姓谢，遂定村名为谢塘。[1]

明启年间，有人自南京铁井栏迁来，属崇德乡井得里，其中有宝树境与佛境。1943年此处为南谢保，编有11甲，归江德乡；1952年改隶第十二区南谢乡，1959年设谢塘大队，划入龙田公社。1984年9月改设谢塘村委会，属江镜乡，1990年随乡改镇。[1]

侨居海外[edit]

村中青壮年多外出谋生，在海外定居的约1800人，分布于东南亚、北美、大洋洲与欧洲等地。[2]
