堑柄村是城头镇下辖的行政村，村庄面临海堑、背靠山坡，扼守水陆南北交通要冲，故名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代隶属感德乡方成里，明代属西隅方成里，1910年归海口镇。1943年划入海口镇元五龙乡的湖美保；1950年为第二区五龙乡所辖，1958年隶属海口公社五龙大队，1959年归湖美大队。1980年单独设为堑柄大队，划归城头公社；1984年设村委会，同年归城头乡。[1][3]
