西池村是城头镇下辖的行政村，明末林氏世祖自长乐县迁居此地，因村落两边大小水池密布而得名。[1][2]

博雅地名网另记，村西面旧有一口大池塘，村名由此而来。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代为感德乡永宾里所辖，元代延续旧制，明代归南上隅永宾里，1910年划归永宾乡。1943年分为九甲，分属星桥、溪边两保；1950年隶属第二区星桥乡，1952年转属第十一区。1959年设西池大队，1961年归城头公社，1988年改为村委会，1990年随城头改镇。[3]
