音西街道位于福建省福州市，由福清市管辖，地处福清城区的中心，正在新城区的轴线上。它由原音西镇于2005年底改设，总面积51.1平方千米。[1][3]
街道东面以大北溪与玉屏街道分界，南面隔龙江与龙江街道相望，西面与宏路、石竹两个街道相接，北部与镜洋镇、闽侯县接壤。现辖14个居委会（社区）和11个行政村。[1][4]
历史沿革[edit]
唐宋时期，这片土地分属永福、太平、万安、长东和感德等乡。民国时期归融城镇管辖。[1]
1950年起这里称音西乡；1961年7月改设音西公社。1970年公社迁至宏路，改称宏路公社，1978年又恢复音西公社的名称。1984年改为乡。1989年改镇，村级沿革页则写作1990年11月改镇，两说并存。[3][5]
音西镇的建制在2005年底取消，此后这一带成为街道。[1][3]
街道名取自音埔、西林中两个自然村名的首字，这两个村当年同在音西乡境内。[2]
人口民族[edit]
截至2011年年底，全街道的总人口是4.6万人。[1] 博雅地名网另载人口数量约11.91万人，未注明年份。[2]
文化[edit]
自2002年起连续四年，街道被评为福州市「经济强镇」；2006年获「福建省集体林权制度改革工作先进集体」和「福州市卫生镇」称号。2014年6月，环境保护部把「国家级生态乡镇」的称号授予街道，年份标注为2012至2013年。[2][3]
名胜古迹[edit]
解放战争期间，福清县委机关与闽中游击队的驻地都设在云中洋村岭口自然村的戴氏宗祠，此处今称中共福清县委机关岭口村驻地旧址。[6]
清荣大道旁立有福清革命历史纪念碑。[2]
