此地早先叫锦屏。明朝嘉靖四十一年间倭寇侵扰县城，戚继光自浙江率军来福清御倭，为安定民心在此张贴《安民告示》，村名遂改为安民。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地属感德乡仁寿里，有锦屏境；明代归仁寿里二图管辖。清宣统二年（1910年）归海口镇，1943年又归杞店乡管辖，设锦屏保，下有9甲。[1]

1950年以后先后隶属于各区的乡，1958年属城关公社，1959年成立安民大队，1961年归音西公社。大队在1984年改为村委会，1990年隶属音西镇，2005年归龙江街道。[2]

安民村于2021年11月获福建省爱卫办评定，列为「2021年福建省卫生村」。[1]
