名称由来[edit]
元末，吴氏一世祖元益公由莆田黄石莲塘迁居于此，取「黄石」「莲塘」各一字，称为石塘。后至十世孙从义认为「石」字欠雅，改为「玉」字，沿用至今。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，唐代曾有杨氏在此肇基，后无人延续。宋代属长东乡文兴里，明代属东隅文兴里1图。[3]
清末，此地归文兴乡。1943年，玉塘保设于此，归利桥乡管辖；1949年，改由玉融镇领属。1958年隶属城关公社卫星大队，次年分出成为玉塘大队。1984年9月改为村委会，属音西乡。2005年12月属龙山街道。[1][3]
文物[edit]
玉塘吴氏宗祠建于清代，1981年被公布为县级文物保护单位。[4]
荣誉[edit]
2024年1月，玉塘村被命名为「2023年福建省卫生村」。[1]
