东刘村是福清市龙山街道下辖的行政村，属城乡结合区，村名由旧称「东楼」谐音而来。[1][2]

名称由来[edit]

据博雅地名网，村址原为一片海滩。刘氏先祖刘亦心乘船经过，听到鸡角岭传来鸡鸣，便在山麓一座塔楼旁定居。村位于东门以东，初称「东楼」，后谐音定为今名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代这里属太平乡永东里；明代改归东隅永东里1图。清末（1910年）改属永东乡，1943年在此设东刘保，隶属融城镇。[1]

1959年成立东刘大队，此后隶属音西、城关等公社；1984年，大队改为村委会，其隶属乡为音西乡。2005年12月起属龙山街道。[1][2]

地理与产业[edit]

福厦铁路穿村而过，村地处滨海平原向丘陵过渡的地带。村内荔枝种植有两百余年历史，拥有百年荔枝林；村中的「东刘一号」荔枝品种，曾在福建省科学技术进步奖评选中获三等奖。[3]
