小北社区隶属福清市玉屏街道，地处东门街北段一带，属主城区。社区因设在原融城街道北侧一片新开发的小区而得名，当时居民众多，辖区也大。[1][2]

名称来源[edit]

社区所在的新开发小区人口多、占地广，故在此单独设立居委会，并以「小北」为名。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1988年1月，原融城镇新设一个居民委员会，这就是今日小北社区的雏形。2003年7月，随融城街道辖区调整，居委会改为小北社区居委会。[2]

2000年5月，小北社区析出玉屏社区；2010年3月，又析出玫瑰园社区。[1][2]
