南海乡是福建省福州市平潭县下辖的乡，位于海坛岛南部海域，乡政府驻草屿岛上的陈厝村。全乡面积13.9平方千米，辖有7个村；2019年末户籍人口为1.05万人。[1]

地理环境[edit]

乡域由一百二十多个岛礁组成，其中有塘屿岛、草屿岛等岛屿。乡域东面临台湾海峡，南边与莆田市的南日群岛、湄洲岛相望，西边隔海与福清市的江阴港相对，北边与敖东镇的钱便澳相距1.5千米。[1]

草屿岛多为低山与丘陵，地形西南部偏高，东北部偏低。岛的中部是洋雷顶山，海拔212米，是全岛最高处。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

2021年，福建省人民政府批复平潭县撤并部分乡镇的方案，南海乡得以保留，辖区范围与政府驻地均不作变动。[2]
