湖南村原属北厝镇东部，村北靠三十六脚湖，东面与东沃镇的潭角底村接壤，西侧为美楼村，南边衔接大厝基村，现属金井镇。[1]

村庄距原镇政府驻地约5公里，村东有坛南湾景区，环岛路自村东部穿过。[1]

人口民族[edit]

村内逾千户，约四千多人，耕地约1245亩；村民小组19个。[1]

下辖8个自然村，田美为其中之一。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

江继芸墓位于田美自然村南侧，墓主为清代金门镇总兵江继芸，他在鸦片战争中抗击英军后殉国，归葬于此。[2][3]

历史沿革[edit]

早年隶属复兴乡，解放初划入二区湖南乡。1958年，建立湖南大队；1984年，大队改设村委会。[1]

2021年以后归金井镇，原先隶属北厝镇。[1]
