北厝村位于原北厝镇的中部，村子东侧挨着庄上村，北边与厝祥村相连；距镇政府所在地只有1公里，过去是全镇的政治、经济与文化中心。[1]

坛西大道从村中穿过，交通便利。[2]
人口民族[edit]
全村总人口约4051人，共1111户。村内耕地1115亩，林地850亩。[1]
沃仔新庄、平岚岭、海塍头、底楼、南楼和本村北厝合计六个自然村，全村编为12个村民小组。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
祠堂后山遗址在北厝村林氏宗祠的后山，1958年被发现。占地约1.5万平方米，经碳十四测定，年代距今约7000至6500年，属新石器时代的贝丘遗址。[3]
遗址2018年列为第九批福建省文物保护单位。[3]
历史沿革[edit]
早年隶属复兴乡，解放初期归二区湖西乡管辖。1956年，本地以合作化为由组织起晨光社。[1]
1958年公社化时隶属敖东公社湖西大队。1961年1月，敖东分社析出设立北厝人民分社，北厝大队于是成了公社所在地。[1]
1979年，公社机关搬到湖西大队的石榴坑村。1984年，北厝大队改设为村委会，2021年以后归金井镇。[1]
