下园村位于霞拔乡东南部，东邻大洋镇，西接南坪村，南连同安镇，北靠福长村，距乡政府约8公里。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清朝时归中和乡官贤里二十二都。民国初期为西区的一部分，此后并入霞拔联保的南园保。新中国成立后，先设下园大队，之后改为行政村。[1]

姓氏[edit]

村中现存黄、张、陈、肖四姓，黄氏为最大姓。肖氏始祖大经公明万历年间拨军到本村开基，是村中最早的居民。[1]

建筑[edit]

省墘寨由清乾隆年间的黄豪有所建，已遭破坏。下园旧厝保存完好，荣就庄也在村中旧厝一带，清嘉庆廿三年（1818年）建成，三进三落，庄寨规模宏大。[1][2]

教育[edit]

1982年，村民集资建成砖混结构的小学教学楼。[1]

庄寨文化[edit]

永泰县人民政府网2024年7月的报道称，本乡以下园“一寨九庄”为基础打造“庄寨文化”。[3]
