此乡在福州市永泰县的西北面，离县城约45公里，东面与大洋镇为邻，南边接同安镇，西面是东洋乡，北面连着闽清县的省璜镇。乡下设11个行政村、52个自然村；户籍统计到2025年末，共6002户、16640人。[1]

乡境平均海拔650米，森林覆盖率为55.68%。农业以水稻为主，李果、茶叶、柑橘与蕉芋是主要经济作物。境内有百年古庄寨20座，锦安黄氏宗祠、杜申故居、荣就庄与谷贻堂等古建筑都在各村之中。[1][4]

地名由来[edit]

乡人民政府驻于霞拔村，乡名因此得名。该地早先称下弼、别遐达，后改写为霞拔，取锦霞绚丽、出类拔萃之意。[2][5]

历史沿革[edit]

宋代此地分属中和乡官贤里与和平乡保德里，元代划归二十二、二十三、三十一都。明清两代仍属上述两乡的所辖范围。民国初年归西区管辖，1938年设霞东乡。[3]

1954年此地划入第五区；1958年隶属大洋人民公社，设霞拔管理区；1961年自大洋分出，组建霞拔人民公社；至1984年，人民公社体制改为乡制，称霞拔乡。[3]

地理环境[edit]

全乡总面积60平方千米，耕地13385.39亩，林地61476亩，林地保有量4059.67公顷，森林蓄积量293600立方米。[1]

气候上，年均气温16.9度，无霜期约330天，年降雨量为1453毫米。[1]

经济[edit]

粮食作物以水稻为主，经济作物有李果、茶叶、柑橘与蕉芋，畜牧业以养鸡、兔、猪、羊为主。[1]

境内有3座小（二）型水库，库容合计54万立方米，另有两座水电站，装机600千瓦。[1]

霞拔铸铁与竹草编织是乡内的传统手工艺，博雅地名网所载的竹草编加工业遍及多个村庄。[2][3]

文化[edit]

政府网站概述称，乡内的文化资源被归纳为庄寨、红色、工艺与博士四类。锦安村的“父子三庄寨”与下园村的“一寨九庄”属于庄寨文化，后官村的红色资源是红色文化的主要依托，霞拔铸铁与竹草编为工艺文化，上和村的“永泰博士第一村”则为博士文化。[1][6]

后官村的萃美庄，因其文化底蕴，被当地列为党建品牌项目的依托。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2014年6月，环境保护部把「2012—2013年度国家级生态乡镇」称号授予本乡。[2]

2024年1月，本乡被命名为「2023年福建省卫生乡镇」。[2]

2024年7月，永泰县人民政府网的报道称：后官村被评为「福建省乡村振兴示范村」，仁里村同时获得「福州市乡村振兴试点村」与「福州市乡村振兴星级村」，福长村为「福州市乡村振兴试点村」。[6]

名胜古迹[edit]

锦安黄氏宗祠位于锦安村，1716年（康熙丙申年）始建，正厅曾悬两块清代匾额，分别题“文魁”“武魁”。船政人物黄文禧曾得沈葆桢赞赏。[4]

杜申故居位于霞拔村，宋代营建，最初称「学士府」，其后改作杜氏宗祠。2007年4月，它被公布为永泰县第六批县级文物保护单位。[4]

荣就庄在下园村的旧厝一带，清嘉庆廿三年（1818年）开工，庄内三进三落，占地2443平方米、建筑3842平方米。[4]

锦安积善堂位于锦安村长万自然村，由黄学猷始建于清嘉庆十年（1805年），寨堡呈八角形，木雕精细。[4]

谷贻堂位于锦安村，由黄孟钢始建于清咸丰十年（1860年），大门单扇开启时为一“才”字，关闭后为一“本”字，取开门迎财、关门见本之意。[4]
