清代，村地属中和乡龙津里二十五都。[1]

1958年，村子归梧桐公社白叶管理区，称蕉坪生产大队；1961年赤锡人民公社组建，村仍为蕉坪生产大队；1984年设赤锡乡蕉坪村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

村名的由来：相传先人到此开垦定居，此处草地上长满土芭蕉，村名因此而来。[1]
