玉锡村位于永泰县西南部的大樟溪畔，属赤锡乡，村名取自旧时溪流的形状。[1]

村子与赤锡村相邻，同样有203省道和福永高速穿村而过。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

清代，村地属中和乡龙津里二十五都。[1]

1958年，玉锡归梧桐公社的赤锡管理区，设玉锡生产大队；1961年赤锡人民公社成立后，它仍是玉锡生产大队；1984年，村委会设于赤锡乡，称玉锡村委会。[1]

2021年12月，村子被命名为「2021年度福建省森林村庄」。[1] 2024年2月，村子被确定为「第二批福建省乡村振兴示范村镇」创建对象。[1] 2024年6月，「福建省第四批高级版绿盈乡村」名单公布，村子上榜。[1]

文化[edit]

村名来自传说中的一条溪：溪形似人，月明时溪水如玉带，古时称「玉尺」，明代改称玉锡。[1]
